The Little White Church on the Hill
Cook's United Methodist Church has been a landmark in Wilson County for many generations, known to many as that little white church on the hill. Although
Cook's can trace its history back to the mid-1800's when circuit riders used to come to the hill to hold services, it has grown with the community into a
bustling church family offering three Sunday morning services and numerous activities throughout the week. The thirteen large stained glass windows add warmth
and beauty to the sanctuary where vibrant and moving services are held. The growing music ministry adds another note of inspiration to our worship.
Our mission statement stresses our desire to be a church that reaches out to the community. Our doors are open to many community activities such as a GED
class, regular blood drives, Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, voting, and school immunizations. We have had a long connection with Habitat for Humanity of
Wilson County and the Wilson Co. Help Center. We also sponsor many activities where the community is invited to attend such as Tae Kwon Do, yoga, CPR classes,
ballroom dancing, and health clinics. Our Good Samaritan Fund has helped meet emergency needs for members of the community as well as visitors to the area
for many years.
We are a family-oriented church with a fully equipped nursery where your children will be cared for by a loving team of experienced staff. Your older
children can join in our lively Sunday school program, Wednesday night activities for pre-schoolers and elementary age children, and Sunday afternoon
activities for our youth. Regular Bible studies and the adult Sunday School classes help those attending develop spiritually as well as form lasting
friendships. On Wednesday nights you can join us for a home-cooked meal prior to our evening service. We hope to see you soon. Our doors are open.
