Music Ministries
Cook’s Kids Choir has a fun practice time on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. The children are invited to bring their own instruments and share their talents. They are also learning to play color-coded handbells. Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:00 are praise music time. The children perform at Sunday morning services once a quarter. The Kids Choir is open to children from kindergarten to fifth grade. Molly Alspaugh, Bonnie Johnson, and Karen McCarthy lead the children in praising God and having fun.
Cook’s Youth Choir meets on Sundays from 7:00-7:30 p.m. each week. The Youth Choir performs a wide variety of music from contemporary to old-time gospel. The choir not only shares their gift with Cook’s congregation by singing once a quarter during Sunday services but has also visited other churches. Junior High and Senior High Youth are invited to join the choir. Debbi Hooper and Rob Pruzinsky are the director and accompaniest, respectively, for the Youth Choir.
The Women’s Ensemble practices on Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 9:40 a.m. and provides the special music during the 8:15 and 9:45 services one Sunday a month. Adult women are welcome to join the ensemble. Sally Thompson is the ensemble director.
Cook’s Adult Choir performs each Sunday during the 11:00 services. The choir selects from a variety of music such as traditional, gospel, contemporary and classical. The choir also leads the worship during Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter when they perform cantatas appropriate to the season. Early in the year, the choir has a weekend retreat to rehearse the music for Holy Week as well as enjoy time together. Singers from their late teens and older are encouraged to join. Practice is every Wednesday from 7:00 – 8:15 p.m. with a month-long vacation during July. Joyce Gaines directs the adult choir.
Soloists and instrumentalists frequently volunteer their services to provide special music at the 8:15 and 9:45 Sunday morning worship services or to accompany the choirs. Joyce Gaines coordinates special music.
